We Care . . .

ICARE is a parent education organization providing individualized, research-based strategies to give children the best possible start in life. In the last year, ICARE provided more than 2,500 services to parents and families in Kootenai County. The focus can include child development, nutrition, health care, effective parenting skills, discipline and abuse/neglect prevention.
ICARE offers personalized home visits by a professionally trained parent educator, offering a support system that addresses the specific strengths and needs of individual families.
ICARE teaches parenting skills that cultivate confidence and good decision making in children by offering them choices, empathy and respect, while adults avoid anger, threats and lectures.

ICARE links families with parent support networks and community resources for needed services.
ICARE
facilitates supportive parent groups that focus on learning how to parent in a healthy manner, even if parents have not experienced that as children. Connections to new friends, shared experiences and reduction in isolation are added benefits.
ICARE encourages family literacy, parental involvement in their child's school and the importance (and fun) of sharing family meals together.
ICARE does periodic screening of overall development in children. Early detection of potential problems prevents difficulties later in school.

ICARE offers an exclusive "dads only" group including fathering without fear, developing confidence, nurturing attitudes and skills they may not be familiar with.
ICARE
promotes school readiness and early literacy activities with parents and their children. Each child gets a free book to take home.
ICARE raises awareness of the community about child abuse, shifting responsibility from children to adults.
